Job Purpose
This role is a key link between the UK/EMEA Sales team, Marketing and Category Management. Using data and insights, they will work with the national account managers of all the UK major grocers to develop and execute the overall sales strategy. Contributing to retailer range reviews and brand planning sessions and deliver insights, analysis and compelling sell in stories.
They will also manage the delivery of key category information to the team and wider business via the category analyst, providing the business with regular standardised reporting.
This role deals with a wide variety of tasks including, but not limited to the following:
Category Management
- Support with key account presentations for line reviews and brand planning sessions, representing a strategic Category view as well as compelling, insight driven selling stories to achieve MPM objectives in market
- Manage the delivery of standardised reporting of Key Category information across the business, via the Category Analyst
- Lead reporting and analysis agenda for key categories
- Work with internal MPM marketing NPD and product teams to identify and evaluate new product ideas, including regular detailed category scoping work delivered with the help of the Category Analyst
Line Manager
- Management of the Category Analyst including annual PDP, ongoing priority management against strategic priorities, regular WIPs, coaching, development & feedback.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Passion for pets
- Experience working with category data such as Nielsen, SIP, IRI, Euromonitor and Dunnhumby
- Strong analytical skills – ability to learn and use various data set to analyse trends, create forward projections and analysis the effectiveness of promotional activity
- IT literate use of Microsoft applications – particularly Excel and Power point and ideally Power BI
- Ability to present to retailers and distributors, including excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with key stakeholders within the business.
- Ability to work independently – without daily supervision and effectively manage tasks, time and resources
- Strong interpersonal skills – ability to work in a team environment, ability to take a leadership role
- Strong commercial Acumen, able to understand and evaluate commercial scenarios and be able to present case to wider business audience
- Excellent organisational skills – detail oriented, able to set, execute and achieve goals
- Ability and comfort level to travel nationally and internationally

- Experience working with top tier retailers
- Creative and curious mindset with the ability to both identify and develop areas of opportunity and grow sales
- Educated to degree level, ideally in marketing or business-related degree
- Ability to think strategically and cross functionally
